About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is Brooke and I am your average American stay at home mom. I grew up in the suburbs, I live in the suburbs. (Although I wouldn’t mind trying country living). I live in the lovely state of California with my husband, three boys, and TWIN GIRLS on the way.

A little more about me? Let’s see… I am undisciplined, forgetful, sensitive, and at times overemotional. What can I say?  I am every woman. (At least I hope most women are like that). In addition to tearing up at episodes of Full House, I also love laughing, baking and reading bedtime stories to my children. I also should let you know that I am not a knitter (and it’s not for lack of trying). I worry about losing my mojo and I buy a pair of cheap sunglasses every year. I can’t stand autocorrect on WordPress, Facebook and Gmail, but I can now spell the word “weird” correctly on the internet. Every time I visit a playground or take my children to some form of childcare I worry they will come back with the bubonic plague. I’m a little bit of a germophob and clean freak and I’m okay with that. And if you hadn’t already guessed, I like candy…even for breakfast (although I wouldn’t recommend it).

But wait, there’s more. I am also a follower of Jesus Christ. In Him, I live and move and have my being, as one Biblical writer wrote. He is the reason I have meaning in this life and hope for the one to come. He is what gets me through the moments of insanity and emotional meltdowns. His love for me is great, His forgiveness and faithfulness unfathomable. He inspires me to write and to be more like Him. And although I constantly fail, He picks me back up and reminds me that “apart from Him you [I] can do nothing”…and whether I eat Butterfingers or Wheaties for breakfast, He loves me just the same.

    Hello Brooke!

I’m here at school…it was an early release day. That means the kids get to go home safely, but not us teachers! Ugh. Thank goodness it’s not to bad and that I have 4WD. So… to aviod grading and picking up extra pencils on the floor I decided to check out the blogging world and found yours! I love your honesty and frankness and reading about your typical day…man by 9am you must be exhausted! You’re a great mom and a wonderful friend and I’m a little inspired myself 🙂 Sometimes the ordinary things in life can be the most amusing and relatable things. So, keep up the blogging and mothering and swiferring! Can’t wait to hang out again soon,

    ~Ellen

Love that last paragraph you wrote-it brought tears to my eyes, my heart beats that way too. Thanks for commenting on my blog! It seems we have some similar “discipline” issues; I too have eaten cake for breakfast! 🙂 My favorite, ha ha!

I happened to read your latest post on nurseries, and I had to chuckle. The one you went to in Pittsburgh must be run by a nurse!

I am realizing that just about everyone struggles to be disciplined! And yes, cake for breakfast is yummy! I’m glad I found your blog too…motherhood is such a unique and special experience, and so is being a follower of Christ! Glad we share both!
And that’s funny about the nursery in Pitt. My mom’s a nurse so perhaps that’s where I get all my germ phobia from. So that nursery seemed like a safe haven to me!!

Brooke , it is so nice meeting you , my desire in my life is to be the God-fearing woman ,God proposed for me. I am inspired there are still many women rooting for Jesus Christ. He is all we have got, without Him we are just lumps of clay.

Hi Brooke! I’ve been researching this idea of blogging for a while so even thought I am new at this I am finding it has its rewards, especially with relocating myself into a life that is lonely at times. I admire your honesty and look forward to reading more – good luck on road trips you have coming up!

I really love your blog. It’s so honest and definitely relateable. I’m really glad I stumbled upon it. I will be visiting again, for sure 🙂

Your candy corn are my jelly beans! & I don’t have to replace my sunglasses, but I need a new pair of winter gloves every year (I don’t loose the pair, just one glove). A kindergarden teacher told us “Its about the process, not perfection” so I’m hoping thats true for moms as well.

amen to the last paragraph of your about me! i love reading blogs of other Christians and just seeing how God makes us all so unique, but all so wonderful- and how we can all join together in loving and appreciating His greatness and influence in our lives 🙂 please send some nice weather from Cali over to me in New England, i’m freezing over here!

Ha! I wish I could. But I love New England too! So beautiful there…especially around this time of year! Yes, it is awesome to find other Christian bloggers–glad you found me and now I found you! I haven’t found too many yet…but I haven’t looked that hard either. Thanks again for stopping in!

    Hey there!

I’ve been following your blog and loving your jokes and anecdotes for ages. Keep writing! You do it well!

In other news, I was wondering if you might be interested in doing a post on your blog about my art shop, Let’s Go Lesco Photos? It would create some extra publicity for the holiday season and I’d so appreciate it. I’d happily re-post something for you for extra traffic or post an ad on my blog for you. Also, if you can think of anyone else that might be interested, I’d appreciate the thought.

    Also, happy almost Thanksgiving!

    Wishing you the best,

    Michelle
