Awards for Slackers?

Ahh, the world wide web…how I have missed you.

I apologize for the long delay in getting this post up, but I have been without Internet since Sunday! Big bummer. So on this fine sunny day I am sitting in a McDonald’s parking lot listening to country music and trying to catch up on e-mails and a bit of the blogging world. All I can say is I am thankful for naps, good friends, and McDonald’s “free” wifi.

Without further ado, here’s the latest:

Thanks to the hilarious girls over at Ournote2self, I have been awarded the “Stylish Blogger Award”! Yay! My first blogging award!

Anyway, there are a few things you have to do once you’re given the award, so listen carefully because you’ll have to do it next!

  1. Link back to the awarding blog.
  2. Answer some questions about yourself.
  3. Name 15 blogs you’re into

Here’s a little bit more about me:

I have been married for…

Six years in July and we have two children, Jacob almost 2 and Landon nine months.

One thing most people don’t know about me is…

That I was the Easter Bunny at our local mall when I was in high school. Yes, I dressed up as Peter Rabbit. Please allow me to explain myself.

You see, some friends and myself thought being Santa’s helpers at the mall would be a fun seasonal job. I mean, wearing a cute little elf costume and snapping pictures of Johnny on Santa’s lap sounded like an easy job and a good way to pick up local teenage hunks. What we didn’t realize is that this job required white turtlenecks and red jumpers in the wintertime and the occasional cameo as the Easter Bunny in the spring. Not quite what we were expecting. None of us got boyfriends out of it…go figure. At least it paid well.

My favorite cuisine is…

Good ol’ fashion Mexican.

My most rewarding memory as a mom…

Was when my first son Jacob was about six months old. I was holding him and getting ready to lay him down in his crib for the night. As he laid his head on my shoulder this overwhelming feeling of love like I had never felt before came over me and I felt like my heart could burst. I love my husband, my parents, and my siblings, but this was unlike any feeling I’ve ever had before. It gave me a glimpse of how God must feel about us. It was amazing.

I could spend all day in…

TJMaxx. Love that place!

The most embarrassing thing I’ve ever done…

Been the Easter Bunny? Oh wait, when I was teaching a girl in the front row told me zipper was down. Oops. Thankfully she told me before all the eight grade boys noticed.

Before I became a mom, I worked…

As the Easter Bunny (duh), and scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins. But more recently, I taught middle school English and then worked as a reporter for a local newspaper. (BTW, I have about a thousand jobs.)

I would consider the perfect day…

80 degrees and sunny. Hanging out with my husband and kids. No laundry, no cooking, no cleaning, no whining. Maybe going for a hike in the woods and a picnic lunch on the hillside overlooking the valley. Ahhhh.

The most spontaneous thing I’ve done is…

Hmmm…I don’t know if I’ve ever really done anything truly spontaneous. The most adventurous thing I’ve done is visit a leper colony in India. It was one of the best moments of my entire life!

My favorite guilty pleasure is…

Butterfingers, of course. No actually, anything sweet. I eat (and love) it all.

If I could meet anyone famous, I would want to meet…

Princess Diana. Can I go back in time? If not then, probably Oprah Winfrey. I just really want to be a guest on her show. I guess that’s not gonna happen. L

My biggest fashion blunder was…

One time in middle school I wore argyle knee socks, combat boots and a white skirt. Blame it on the Kurt Cobain “grunge” phase, but I’m not so sure it really went together even at the time.

If I could make one wish, it would be…

To live happily ever after. Be free of all heartache and pain for the rest of my life and die in my sleep as an old woman. (I don’t like pain).

I am most proud of…

My career as the Easter Bunny. Kidding. Just had to get that in one more time. I would have to say I am most proud of my husband and my two lovely boys. I am so unbelievably blessed!

And now for the blogs I am digging and also therefore awarding the “Stylish Blogger Award.” (Okay, so some of these have already been nominated, and some will probably never know they were nominated as they are “super blogs” but these are the ones I am reading!)

Oh, I teared up at your memory of Jacob as a baby. So precious! And I suffered through my own Kurt Cobain phase…plaid shirts and all. Guess it didn’t help I was living near Seattle during the grunge era. Thanks so much for the award. I gave you the same award! LOL
